hi everybody,
the polyphase i was debugging here: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?PHPSESSID=f578b190c3a7ea4e8830b2ef42620905&topic=47830.0 (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?PHPSESSID=f578b190c3a7ea4e8830b2ef42620905&topic=47830.0)
is now completely working.
the 2n5088 on the lower right-hand corner of the circuit (it connects with it´s collector to pin 4 of the flip-flop) had a short between base and emitter, it is a very fine trace there with not much space in between. maybe that explains why the whole circuit was working even before when i had it reversed, although it could be that i made the solder bridge when i was desoldering it to turn it around.
it also sounds completely different now in sweep mode. and now i know what tick you guys were talking about, it is practically unnoticeable and will probably disappear once i box it up. what i had was really a whoppwhoppwhopp. i should have made a recording of it so everybody can laugh and point at lowstar :icon_lol:
well, i´m really happy now and will put it into a dd as soon as possible, to see how it sounds with bass guitar.
cheers,
lowstar
Congrats :)
That's encouraging. I finished mine a couple of hours ago. It does an excellent job passing a straight signal and oscillating when I crank the feedback, but that's it. :) I'll attack it with an audio probe this weekend.
Make a recording, make a recording! There isn't a single guitar sample of it anywhere on the internet, so you'll be making a great contribution!
Well, a pretty good contribution anyway :D. Doesn't matter how good/bad you play!
Mines still waiting for me to order the VTLs, and for that matter actually finish it.
The original I traded for arrived last week. I havent had a chance to open it up to check the thermistor and I wont in the foreseeable future. My g/f of 4 years broke up with me last week and havent taken it well. I am going to taking a bit of a hiatus from pedal building till I can sort out higher priorities in my life.
The reissue polyphase looks like a complete redesign. It is also more versatile than the original, its still worth buying even if you have built this.
sorry to hear that, nelson.
hope you get over it soon.
heads up !
cheers,
lowstar
