the 5K trimmers should go from transistor's emmiter to ground.

BUT:  It'll sound WAY better to jumper Q-1 through Q3 's emmiter STRAIGHT to ground.  THEN, put the 5K trimmer from emmiter to ground on Q4 (the transistor after the tone control) .  Why?  This will "boost" the tone control to give you a better versatile tone control.

On one of my BMP's; after doing the "emmiter to ground" trick, you simply couldn't hear the tone control at all- so, after putting the 5K trimmer in there, adjust until you get the proper versatility.

Then; you simply jam and enjoy  ;D
