Title: blue magic mod?
Post by: blanik on August 27, 2006, 01:54:30 PM
i just had a listen to the Blue Magic at GGG, this is close to the sound i like but i need more drive than those sound samples, it says on the GGG page that it's got "mild to moderate" grit... given it's design, is it possible to mod it to have more drive but still retain that tone?

Maybe you could try a booster in front of it. To me it has enough drive for what it was designed for but if you are looking for more, try a booster.

I think the ROG Peppermill may be better suited.
It is the same concept as the Blue Magic but, I feel is a slightly better sounding circuit and if you do a search
here on this site, you can find some mod ideas that will get you much of what you are looking for.
Just my opinion 'cause I've been there and done that  ;)

I played the original Blue Magic and it's darn good. It sounds really great through a good tube amp. I bet a booster might give him enough juice to do what he wants to do.

I keep trying to obtain that Blue Magic. It's got it.

Well, in all fairness, I haven't heard mine in almost 2 years so, I don't really know.
I'm going off of bad memory and Aron's younger than I am so, his memory is better than mine  :icon_redface:
However, speaking of memories.....

Here's my Blue Magic.
It is a nice circuit!
