Title: Bazz Fuss troubleshooting
Post by: JonFrum on February 21, 2007, 09:14:50 PM
I have a BF v.1 - 2N5088 - on my new breadboard. You'd think it would be pretty hard to screw up, no? It buzzes - in a bad way. When I touch the input jack from the guitar to the breadboard, I get more noise. when I play the guitar, I get a very soft static-y hiss.

battery: 9.6V

C: .735V
B: .548V
E: 0V

My eyes are going googly looking at it.   :icon_redface: Any suggestions appreciated. That collector voltage certainly looks funky.

all the voltage looks funny. sounds like something attached to ground that shouldn't be...

I just got it working. I checked the ground connections to the breadboard, and there was no continuity from one end of the board to the other in the ground strip. When I moved the ouput jack and volume pot grounds to the input side of the board, I got fuzz! Forty years after I first heard a fuzz pedal, I've finally played through my first. Very cool!
