Title: Dr.Boogey ...+ speaker sim
Post by: MuNdrY on April 10, 2007, 05:03:33 AM
Hi all..and excuse my english.
I want to make gaussmarkov's Dr.Boogey with an interesting mod: i've found the Triaxis's speaker sim schematic...why don't add it?
Only two questions:
1) the speaker sim must be added between the Dr.Boogey's out and the output jack?
2) On the schematic there is an 1H inductor...how important is? can i eliminate it?can i use something else (500mH , 300mH etc. a little plus easy to find)?

I would say that you should build a speaker sim as a separate box ... why ?
Because then you can run whatever other circuit you like through it and you
can use the Dr bBoogey direct to an amp without the speaker sim.
OR :
Build a Dr Boogey with the speaker sim foot switchable - yes - but then you can't plug another
circuit through this - for recording at home etc  !!

I dont know this circuit but at GGG is a marshall sim that's simple and great
Joe Davissons "simple sim" also good and ROG condor is great also - but more complex.

MM.

You could also put it in 1 big enclosure, where each circuit has its own in and output jacks.
Then if you would patch the Boogey's out to the Triaxis Sim input, you could record with the Dr. Boogey like that.

I think i'll do something similar.

Any answer about the inductor?

I would say that, for that circuit, the Inductor is an important part of it. If you leave it out, the circuit will probably do nothing.

Ok...i've put together the the 2 schemes in one (boogie+triaxis) but I have some doubts:
how do you see I've used 2 manual switches:one for using speaker simulation only(sw2:bypassing the preamp); and one would to add the simulation to the preamp (sw3), can i split the signals only to level of "input"?... or i'll have some problems of interference because of the incomplete bypass?
must the simulation be put before or after the master volume?
can the battery or the feeder have difficulty to give current to everything (dr.boogie+speaker sim)?

I attach you the scheme (you excuse if it is disgusting... it is the first one that I do....and excuse my english too)

I've finished this project, now i've got a Dr.Boogie+triaxis's speaker simulator.

You can listen the boogie alone (with some different equalizations)

and with the speaker sim:

This schematic is wrong i'll post the correct project in pdf.
