Title: Finished MarkM's Hearthrob Tremolo....in one word....Awesome!!!
Post by: Jamforthelamb on December 03, 2007, 09:35:21 AM
Hey Everybody,
Just wanted to give some "props" to MarkM. I built his Hearthrob Tremolo in perf (going off of his board layout), and I love it. I don't have much to compare it to right now, but it is extremely versatile considering it's minimal controls (Rate, Depth, and Speed switch). I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a very useable Trem. that is not over compliacted.

Here's the link:

God bless,
Kevin

Hi Snoof,
I just checked, and I can't detect any loss of volume. If anything, with the depth turned all the way down, it seems like I'm getting a little bit of boost ???. I didn't do any substitutions on my build just so you know.

Here's a couple of badly lit pictures. It's housed in an old breast pump box I found at a thrift store.

Lookin' nice!  I followed the Schaller schem extactly(what Heartthrob is based on), but I'm getting a vol drop.  I would have just etched Mark's, but I wanted to perf this one, and Mark doesn't include schems.  I'll try Mark's values and see what's what.

What worked best for me is not using true bypass as usual but for bypass I put a SPST switch to ground from base of Q1  (the first tranny after the input resistor.)  What's cool about that is if you install the blinking LED it will shut off when in baypass.

oldrocker:
What did you do for to get the LED to blink ? I'm going to open my back up to add a power jack, and I'd love to make the bypass LED blink with the rate of the trem.

Thanks!
Kevin

LED goes from the collector of Q4 to ground.  Make sure the LED is oriented correctly.   Negative of LED to ground of course.
