Title: Wicked Switch startup state and power down
Post by: Michael Allen on January 08, 2008, 10:00:35 PM
Tone God, I love using the wicked switches, they are quite wonderful.

I'm curious if there is anyway to control the power up state using the momentary and inverter options. When I turn on my power supply all the effects are in the "ON" state. Is there anyway to make them start in the "BYPASS" state?

Also, when I power down and there is a wicked switch in the signal chain I get a loud and ugly spasm. It sounds like a dying robot! I'm sure this is from the wicked switch power draining either through the capacitor or from the chips themselves. Can this be avoided? Is it possible that it's just the cap I'm using? I think most of the ones I've made have been with .1uF ceramic disks cause they're small.

Just some afterthoughts, the switches work perfectly otherwise. Thanks so much for the design!

Michael

Have you checked out the "Lost in State" article ?

As for the power down it could be the decoupling caps but they are fairly small. I would sooner feel it is a large cap somewhere either in the effect circuit or power supply.
