I s there any way to wire a led on a spdt switch i dont use trtue bypass on my overdrive builds and i like the to keep it simple , i just want to add an led when it on etc, i know it can be done with a dpdt
Well, if you use clipping diodes you could use LEDs in their place, or add the Millennium Bypass.
If your question is if you can add a status LED when using a SPDT switch for on/off toggling then the answer is no.
You'll need at least a DPDT switch to wire the LED, if you use a Millenium circuit you can even make it true bypass (checkout geofex.com on that last one, great articles).
Ah there shows my ignorance. Sorry. :icon_redface: :icon_neutral:
You could do it by adding some sort of electronic switching like in Boss pedals, and use the SPST to control that. Or check out the Tone God's wicked switch article http://www.geocities.com/thetonegod/switches/switches.html (http://www.geocities.com/thetonegod/switches/switches.html)
for me, i also see true bypass as a way of keeping things simple. you don't need to add more electronics.
I also tend to use true-bypass just to keep things simple and efficient, the added cost of a 3PDT more than makes up for the troubles related to SPDT switching IMO.
Just out of curiousity: do Boss pedals use SPDT switches to control the FET switching? Haven't dug in yet to find out all about FET switching.
Edit: when reading through The Tone God's article it appears that it is still possible to use a SPDT switch combined with LED indication, but to me it seems time-consuming to do it that way. This to correct my first statement so yes, it can be done :)
boss seem to use a momentary spst, or am i wrong?

I agree I mostly use 3PDT and do true bypass, because it's easy, and in the UK where I am it's cheaper to buy 3PDT switches from Aron than buying good quality DPDTs locally ???
Depending on where you live though it might be much cheaper to do electronic switching than buying DPDT or 3PDT switches.

Boss use a momentary SPST switch to control a transistor flipflop circuit that then controls the LED and FET switching.
