reading the posts about wahs in the lounge today got me interested in them again. i then started reading the great "technology of wah pedals" page and saw this interesting idea around the bottom. "converting an inductor style wah to a single variable resistor to ground."
then you can pair two wah circuits together with the middle lugs going to ground for "really interesting vocal effects"
hmm, sounds good. however, i just can't get my head around how to make a typical inductor circuit into the single variable resistor to ground style.
luckily i have two old crybaby inductors sitting around that i'd like to try this with...
anyone have an idea how to implement this? it was attributed to craig anderton btw.
Thinking of the wah pot as a voltage divider, just replace one half of the pot with a fixed resistor (i think i used 100k), and use your choice of variable resistor to ground for the other half (i used an ldr). :)
Which "half" did you replace with the LDR? Lug 3 to lug 2 or lug 2 to lug 1?
You replace the bottom half with the LDR, the half between the wiper and ground. Check out the technology of the wah at Geo for more details on this mod.
Almost three years later... did anyone try this and if so, how did it work? I mean, does it change the wah tone/sweep/anything at all? Or is it simply "they could have done it this way with the exact same results but instead they saved the cost of a resistor"? Thanks.

when i tried the anderton trick, there seemed to be noticable lag time in the response. i heard simliar reports from others at some point. not sure if i did everything correct, though.
