Title: please help in a idea
Post by: cox on June 02, 2008, 02:46:52 PM
hi there you all

i've seen a presentation video of the zvex jonny octave and i realised that i'm kinda looking for that type of sound...that thing is awesome!!!
so then,  i started wondering about putting two octave pedals in series, being the pedal the tim escobedo's pushmepullyou.
now, what i want to know is if this will work or if it's better another pedal. i'm only speaking about this pedal in particular cause i got all the parts around my "bench", so i wouldn't be in need to buy nothing. get it? sorry about this terrible english, must be awful trying to read this

thanks in advance

the circuit in the Jonny Octave involves (something like) a transistor stage driving a transformer into some diodes. This scheme is something you should find easily in a search.

you should also just research octave circuits and compare them. Build (breadboard) a few and see what you like.
Some nice person might put in a link or two -

there are five schemes at General guitar gadgets

and There are five different schemes at GEOFEX - the most notable is R.G.'s MOS doubler - a cleaner octave up

you should definitetly just build what you can with what you have - it won't be the same thing, but you will have something to compare the others with later.

"(something like) a transistor stage driving a transformer into some diodes."

Hmmm, the words Tyco and Brahe sprung to mind when you were describing that Zvex just now ...  ;D
