Title: Arbiter Fuzz Face SI transistors
Post by: criss on September 03, 2008, 01:20:24 PM
Im building a Arbiter Fuzz Face Si and any input on what transistors i can use would be of interest .

Ive seen on ebay some Motorola 2N2219A NPN Switching and 2N2369A Si NPN Fast Switch Are these any good to try out . Ive also seen lots of BC108 on there but not sure if there the corect types to try out .

I know there s  no way of knowing if they will sound nice have the correct hfe but thought i would ask if these will atleast be in the general ballpark

All input is of interest

Lots of people have used the 2369's (see "Axis Face" for more details), and I've used the 2219's a BUNCH.

the 2369's tend to be in the 60-90 hfe range, the 2219s in the 80-120 or so range...at least the ones ive tested.

both are good choices

Thanx mate

So there ok to try in Arbiter Fuzz Face ?  Should i buy both types and mix and match a few ?

yep....try a few nd see what you like. The 2369s can occasionally be a bit noisy, so its always good to try several.

DEFINITE;Y WORTH TRYING, ESPECIALLY IF YOU CAN GET THE bc108a'S...THE "B" AND "C" DESIGNATIONS GET INTO HIGHER HFE RANGES...SOME PEOPLE LIKE THIS, OTHERS DONT. i THINK THE BC108A AND SOMETIMES THE BC108B ARE VERY GOOD SOUNDING TRANSISTORS...

Geez---dang caps lock...sorry... :(
