Title: Supplier for these knobs?
Post by: John Lyons on September 04, 2008, 04:21:54 PM

I know this has come up before as a "zvex knob" but I don't
think this one was off one of Zack's pedals.
I got it in a trade with some others.

I have been grinding the skirts off some Davies knobs from Mouser
that get me pretty close to the same look and size.
It's a pain in the ass to do this so I'd like to just buy some.
Here's what my fakes look like.

Anyone have any ideas where to get these?

I forget the name right now but I know Mouser carries something in that style and is 1/4in shaft.

The ones I use are from Mouser but they have a skirt, I have to grind it off to get it like the ones
pictured as I was saying above. With the skirt they are too big to fit three across on a "B" sized box.
Plus I like the compactness without the skirt.

The dreaded Radio Shack has something similar, although it might be too big.  I bought some smaller ones there a while back that looked to be the same size at what you're needing.

Hey John, I was looking through a Philmore catalog and saw these, reminding me of this thread.  I think those are your knobs, but I have no idea on pricing.    No. 3010

I realise I'm posting a bit late here, but for future reference, rather than grinding the skirts off, you (as in "one") could also consider a smaller knob of the same style as the MXR jobs. I can get them in 4 different sizes at my local electronics shop (they also have the EXACT ones you were looking for, John Lyons (with the skirts removed), but they were out of stock. Just one display one left, which I couldn't buy). I'm only posting this now, cos I've only just got out to the shop to get some.

Anyway, here are the four sizes I can get. The second smallest one is the standard MXR size (as found on, say, a Phase 100):

I've ordered them from here before:

They are cheaper at J-tron though.
