Title: Built me a Boss Tone!
Post by: superferrite on December 29, 2008, 12:40:40 AM
I used the Dragonfly strip layout and it sounds very ZZ Top with P-90s, and really seventies with my seventies SG.
Well, everything sounds seventies with that one!

With the Attack down low, it is a slightly woolly boost, and with the attack up the fuzz is nice and fizzy but you can really hear the chords well.
Also cleans up nice with the volume knob-- the first Si fuzz I've made that does that trick.
For Q1` I used a weird old salvaged Sony NPN with an hfe of 70, and the PNP is a standard 2N3906.  Hfe is about 150.

Now to try other clipping diodes besides the 1n914s...

I expected a fizzy sixties fuzz, but this thing is actually a nice OD style piece.

Thanks, guys

The Bosstone is pretty versatile.
Try without any diodes but BEWARE! it's a beast...very loud and good for a booster to juice up an amp's input.
Try a large input cap for octave tones.
Check out Alex Frias' posts for some fun mods.
