Just finished hooking this up to my test wiring harness this morning. I want to futz with it a bit to boost the low-end a bit but so far I'm a happy camper.

Here's the schematic:

LM353 opamp into a couple of silicon diodes and a single 500K output pot. Nothing fancy but it sure brings teh rawk.
Shitty playing clip -- LP>Rust Driver>18-watt clone I built.

Next up on the build table:
- 18-watt in a box(for a friend)
- Marshall 100-watt Super Lead in a box
- Tweed Princeton in a box
- Matchless DC30 in a box
(All of these are from runoffgroove.com)
- MXR Phase 45
- Rat clone
- Ross Compressor
(With PCBs from tonepad.com)
Sounds great. And what an easy build! I will have to add that to the list of "builds to get to"! Thanks.

Thanks!
Almost forgot the vero layout for those who aren't schematically-inclined. ;D

Nice! And welcome to DIYStompboxes (it looks like you're new here!)!

Thanks Joe. I've got about 7,000 posts under my belt in the guitar forums at HC, but nobody wants to talk about effects building in the effects forum there. ???
Sounds great! Timely thread fro me- last night I ordered the parts for my build.
Just finished this circuit on vero with a few subs--it's pretty nice :)
I dig simple circuits like this.
Just added a compact 7x13 holes perf layout in my gallery.
Obvious mods for this circuit are both gain and tone controls, R6 1MA pot for gain ???
R8 100KB + cap for tone?
Suggestions?
Sounds great man! Maybe indeed a bit more low.
I'm building this one next!
Gotta build one - Will the 1n4148 r 1n914 be a good substitute for the 1ss119?! The schem calls for Si diodes, so i guess it should take not many differences...

I built mine with 1n914 diodes fixed gain resistor (somewhere around 1/3 the pot value), with just the volume control, and it makes a perfect dirty booster for my amp.
I'm in the middle of boxing this circuit up with the modified Trotsky I built--they play nicely together. This gets a nice, fat response from my amp, while the Trotsky (fixed gain as well, asymmetrical clipping setup) gives a more trebly sound.
I dig it :)
