Title: changing pot values
Post by: burdt on January 06, 2009, 05:06:04 PM
i want to build a fuzz and i'm out of 1k linear pots.  i have an abundance of 10k pots, however.  is there a way to change their value to 1k?  i'm waiting for a shipment of new pots, so there's no hurry, i'm just wondering if its possible, since i used a 10k resistor in parallel with the 10k pot to make a 5k.

is using nine 10k resistors in parallel with a 10k pot the only way to achieve this? how would the taper be affected?

while i'm on the topic, how did i affect the taper of the 5k pot i made out of a 10k linear and a 10k resistor?

i tried google but my question was too vague, so i thought i'd ask some experts.

Have a look at the potentiometer calculators over here:
