Title: Big Muff Pi diode switching with rotary switch

Hey everyone,

I'm working on a mod for a Big Muff Pi from tonepad (http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=94) that will make it so users can switch between different diode pairs.  I have a 2 pole 5 position rotary switch with each position having a different pair of clipping diodes in series and then an input and output lug.  My question is where do I connect the input and output wires on the PCB?  Would I connect them to the anode side of D1 and the cathode side of D2 or the same on D3 and D4?  Currently I have sockets in all 8 positions for D1-D4. In D3 and D4 I have 1N4148s I believe.  Then the input of the rotary switch is connected to the anode side of D1 and the output is connected to the cathode side of D2.  The problem is that switching the rotary positions doesn't really yield an audible difference even though there was an audible difference when I socketed different diode pairs in the D1 and D2 spots.  So what am I doing wrong?

Can you maybe sketch out how you're trying to do it? Then maybe someone can give you some suggestions/corrections.

I'll take a look when I get home tonight.

I think the diode change doesn't really change the sound. The only mod I did on my big muff and I found really usefull is  the "mid boost".

I'm gonna be out of town for 4 days but when I get back I'll post some pics of the board to show what I'm attempting to do.  Thanks for the input.  I'll be back!
