hello, i have just modified my dod 250 clone (yellow version from GGG) with assymetrical clipping. i like the sound alot better now, it has a more dynamic, glassy sound, and indeed very tubelike. the clipping setup is now 2 ge diodes on side 1 and 1 Si diode coming back. the sound has a little more harsher high end and i wanted to smooth that out. i was going to try the mod of jumping lug 1 and 3 of the volume pot(fx and ground) with a capacitor. i have .01 uf, .047 uf and 1 uf. will any of these work? which one is recomended? thanks!
Add some temporary wiring to the pot and try the different values you have and see if any of them work for you. You can also place the caps in series or parallel for different values. There are calculators on the web to figure the combined values. Here are some mods I have done. ;)

You can put a cap across the diodes... this will hep.
how would i orient the capacitor on the diodes? do i jump across one set? both set? what size capacitor? please explain i am dying to know! :o
thanks!
mike
Both diodes go to ground, so just toss the capacitor right next to them also going to ground. Check out the DOD Yngwie pedal schematic (it does the same thing to tame some of the highs). Hope this helps.

I put a 'tone knob' on there. A cap/10k linear pot...various other combinations [see AMZ labs notbook for this and other diagrams, also see 'simple mods and tricks'] are possible here, though some 'pre-voicing' [such as a little HF rolloff cap nearer, or at the input] may be considered or tried.
Mike,
Check this page out: :-)

i did see that page aron, thanks, its great! i definitely will be trying more mods from it!
well i will probably open my pedal up and take a look, see if things make more sense as i am looking at the actual circuit, thanks for the help guys!
anyone have a suggestion on a good starting size capacitor? i might need to get some alligator clips so i can try different caps.
