Thank you for being here.
I've been in other forums where it's just imploding. Everyone mad at each other and starting other forums and trying to figure out how they are going to co-exist. Duplicate postings on the forums etc.... etc...
THANK YOU guys for giving me one place that I have enjoyed for the last 11 years. It hasn't always been smooth, but I really, really appreciate all the people on here. I haven't said it enough, but I love this place and you guys have been great.
When I was working on my Rat pedal and the NPN boost again, this forum was a valuable resource.
Thanks!
p.s. thank you Andrew for doing a tough job.
Aron, we didn't spoke ... never ever but you are a big man with a big soul. A nice jobe and very nice ppl, what can you whish more..... Hmmm maybe a chat? :D
Best regards with enormous respect,
Gabriel
Thanks Aron sooo much for this forum!!
I have learned so much and am continuing to learn.
I've been to a couple of other forums but keep coming back to this one.
yours is busier and there is always something new and interesting going on here.
Thanks
Glen
I think part of the reason the forum doesn't end up with all the rubbish that happens on other forums is that it is just so damn useful and everyone has a common (very specific) interest. If your like me then all the posts are interesting even the "i cant find this component" posts are interesting and helpful. How could it not be a welcoming place with that kind of combination.
Thank you guys! For the record, the "other forums" I am talking about are not music related but still go through pains like all forums do.
This forum has always been a friendly place to come and talk about stompboxes and other music electronics. This website really has become the one stop place for information about stompboxes, so congrats on that as well :).
I agree that unlike other forums, we manage to avoid pointless arguing, name calling, etc.. The site has always been well moderated, so my hats off to ALL of the moderators.
wrong board! try the lounge! maybe ill get aron to transfer your thread, mr threadstarter...
hahaha! kidding!
this forum has been a great help to me as a guitar player, diy stompbox builder, and also as a person... you have no idea how i was crying on the shoulders of diystompboxes.com long time ago...
cheers to the biggest stompbox forum in the planet!
Good leadership makes a place run smooth, buddy.
And great leadership usually starts with people who are familiar with stuff on the shop floor.
Hard to believe its 11 years. I keep stumbling onto threads I printed out and saved in my binder collection, and am constantly amazed at the dates on some of them. "1999?! I thought that thread was just from last year!" :icon_eek:
We're not immature young people. (most of us hehe) We have intelligence, and age and wisdom and smart ideas. by nature anyone who's a guitar douchebag would not enjoy this place. Petty shallow self serving selfish lazy folks would get nowhere here. Someone who's apt to buy an expensive piece of gear is not going to sit and figure out how it works, how to make it better, and ask advice on how to do it. They want someone else to do it for them.
> Hard to believe its 11 years.
Yes, really hard. That's 11 years for _me_. For people like you, thank you for helping and being here.
I really enjoy the aura of this forum, i find many others not so "friendly". There's not often we come across all-knowers and the likes on this forum. Good job, and cheers!
I think that one of the reasons that people are careful about how they behave here is that this forum has a spirit of contribution.
This forum's spirit revolves around people who have been so profoundly affected by the great things that this forum has brought them.
Anyone who has gotten to the level of toiling over a breadboard making tweeks is doing so in order to save others the trouble and in hopes of adding something good for the group BECAUSE many others have spent much more time and SHARED.
Not to mention the fact that this type of building is very solitary. If one talks about these things to others, there are only blank stares.
So here we share a common affliction.
who would want to muck that up?
Rock and Roll
Many many plus ones!
Thanks to this Forum and the helpful people it houses, the only pedals on my board that aren't home-made are either Wah, or Digital.
It's hard to put a number on the things I've certainly learned as a member - if i could, it would be a very large number indeed.
There's some great articles and advice provided here, as well as a spirit of 'tinkering' - which is soooo hard to come by.
Even if the advice you receive is "...go read some theory." - you *still* end up smarter than when you started.
So yes, many thankyous from this little corner of burnt-fingerdom.
Hi, I have been here, coming up to one year now since i found this forum and have found that time here has flown over, i have learned so much and enjoyed the chat and how everybody chips in with ideas . this is one great place to be, friendly informative and fun. Even more, this forum and all its users auto moderates...I always read discussions made in the best and polite way, even if you think my point is dead wrong...So moderators have an easy life here!!!

NOW that's a good point...I definitely agree with you...
Thats why I keep coming back to this forum exclusively...
Thanks Aron for setting this up. Also a thanks to everyone here who shares their knowledge, schematics, layouts, pictures etc. I love coming to this site. I have noticed that nobody talks negatively about anybody else. I think that shows the level of character of the people in this forum.
Thanks right back at you. You've created this monster and a great community of like minded builders have helped it grow. Every forum has problems, but this one has a spirit that is welcoming and helpful.
a rare thing indeed.

This forum is like being in a band where everyone likes to practice. When you get that, you don't want to screw it up.
Thank you for keeping it under control and setting the tone and rules.
I think a bunch of us came from the newsgroups alt.guitar.effects before there was the www!!!
I still have a TON of RG's posts from there that I saved.
Keep it going!
A BIG SHOUT OUT THANK YOU TO YOU, ARON!
This place is a true gift. I can't even begin to list the things that I've learned here and the number of times I've found resolutions to various bugs.
Aron,
If I ever go to Hawaii beers are on me!
We must thank you!
mac
Thank you Aron, for giving us a place to learn, vent, create, share and explore. This is a unique place, no doubt.
Thank You Man !
It's too cool, powerful information about working with power !
A big thank to you Aron,
this forum is THE BEST, even because, looking at the "non related to stompboxes" posts you can easily find a solution/answer to almost of your issue/question, I can recall some posts about small toys-train, bending plexiglass, car's battery, iPod,laptop, even girlfrend!, economy and many other, and all of them get at least a "good word"! there must be good guys over here!!!
Armando
Thanks to you also, Aron. I have been a member of this forum since October 2001 when I built my first ever guitar pedal.
Just about every time I had a question, it was answered by someone here, without any condescending attitudes. I think that's pretty cool that people are so helpful around here. I think that is because of the example set here by people like Aron, Mark Hammer, RG and others. Not to mention all of the things I have learned while hanging out here. :icon_razz:
I have even found some work thru this forum and even had some people help me with making some recordings. None of that would have happened were it not thru the connections made at this forum.
OK, now let's all sing "he's a jolly good fellow". Ready? 1, 2, 3.... :icon_lol:
Even though I'm a freshman here, I'd like to thank you aron, and thanks to everyone here for you kindness and collaboration spirit! :)
This place made me go back to school, so a BIG thanks to YOU Aron
Fuzzy feelings sent your direction :)
A huge THANKS to Aron and every one in this community! This place has inspired me to explore and build things that I never would have thought possible including things that were not stomp box related.
This community here are the most creative and "out of the box" thinking people I know. (Pun intentionally intended ;D)
Thanks for having us ;)
