I thinking of building a metal muff. I found the schematic and simplified it a bit. Here my version of schematic.

Switch1 is top boost.
It bit complex but not that difficult to build. So please have look to schematic and any suggestion, error point out or more simplifications will be more than welcomed.
Did you do this in Eagle? Do you have the pcb board made for this?
I started buiilding this yesterday, no sounding yet becouse i have to check my wiring. I question for ubaid, 16 emmiter stays open? if u have traced this with eagle i would appreciate the file or pcb jpg. Now is in my protoboard! :icon_razz:
gdluck building it!
Ok here is revised schematic. I have corrected the mistakes.

You can almost buy one for what it cost to make this pedal...

really ???
They arent expensive at all, http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ElectroHarmonix-Metal-Muff-with-Top-Boost?sku=153339
Sure you can make one a bit cheaper (not with silkscreen though likely for a one off) but will it look as cool? Besides,it wont be EHX! :icon_mrgreen:
yeah! now a different thing! thanx a lot ubaid! i will make that corrections this afternoon and will tell u what i get about this precious... for me it's very much cheaper to build it...
Thank Naku for implementing. Tell us with results so that i can start working on pcb. I don't got a breadboard so myself i didn't tested this. But if still you got some problems, i will pm you the original factory schematic. Original schematic is not allowed to be posted on this forum EHX claimed its copyright. But original schematic is more complex and very difficult to understand.
@bumblebee,
for me it is max $5 for everything that includes power supply and chassis as well. I can buy these things locally. Also it only got opamp so they are not difficult to find.
5 bucks, well if you can bulid this for that you'r doing better than the majority of us on here! Just the enclosure (hammond) will cost at least four times that if I were to make it.

Good job !
Isn't there something weird in the Drive stage (pot1) though?
Thanks for pointing this out. Sorry for my mistake. I have fixed that in this updated version.

I still got the original factory schematic. If anyone need that pm me. I will send him the schematic. It cannot posted on forum because of copyright issue.
Thanks for your work !
I noticed a few other mistakes :
C14, R35 and R53 values are missing.
The rest seems fine. :)
OHH forgotten topics!!!!!!!!!!!! REBORN METALMUFF
Hello!
I build a Boss MT-2, Its look like the metal muff. ( http://www.freeinfosociety.com/electronics/schemview.php?id=138 )
Q1, Q2 and Q3 I use BC182B transistor, it most popular for audio in Hungary, but not a good sound. I will buy the original type of transistor, and try it. With 2N5088 is OK? D1, D2 I try shcottky diodes, it faster, and lower forward voltage.
(sorry the poor English)
Jaca
ubaid88!
I check Your schematics
Value of C21 is missing, and Q4 is not have basis current, I think, a resistor is missing from VCC, or Q4 collector is on VCC?
Jaca
Hi Jaca do you a PCB of Metazone? its one of the most versatile boss pedal ever!! if you have can you please share it to me please? askwho69@yahoo.com
Hey, I've got a Metal Muff! I find it to be a bit temperamental, and not necessarily in the rockin' way. It sounds cool IF I don't push too much input in to it, and I don't believe my pickups are particularly hot. With my guitar's volume pot rolled back, it sounds great. When I turn it up, it's a bit fizzy and bad sounding. Has any body else had this experience?
I just ordered a Pocket MM, but sent it back because a screwhead was stripped and I couldn't get the bottom plate off. I have heard that this version used through-hole rather than SMT. If the smaller one behaves the same way, is there an easy fix? I wondered if maybe a resistor at the input would help, but I'm not sure.

I agree. That schematic looks like an MT-2 with fixed frequency and a boost tacked on the end. I did just glance at it so I could be wrong.

hey send me your factory schem of this pedal!!! can you have one??? you post some photos of it' please!!!! my personal mail is: rbarriost@yahoo.com, thanks a lot!!!!
ohh you wanna make a layout? nice!
A layout? yes but with normal components and one side PCB; I don't know how to made with SMD components!!!! in PERÚ it cost a lot of money
ohh yah youre right! maybe Boogie saves metal heheheh
I´ve made a corection of the schem; there are values forgotten like the R35, R53,C21 and the pot 6!!! I made these corrections in a schem in EAGLE and tranform in an image:
It is correct the schem? thank a lot for all of you!!!!!
last picture is not clear...please repost it on imageshack....and are you going to make a pcb?cause if not i am going...
Hey man don't be impatient these things take a time; you have to be concentrate a god breath of your friends can help too!!! OK a time please to make the PCB and the layout I have this scheme in EAGLE program and I not an expert in this program; let be patient !!!!!
Nice i like youre spirit GSM!
No man thanks to ubaid88 it the best friend it's my inspiration, the scheme it's from ubaid88; thanks friend!!!
Nice just keep it up!
A2
good luck then...i ''ll stay of the pcb... ;)
sorry for being rude...but still nothing? ;D
Yeah tasos; it's too slowly; cause I'm and apprentice of EAGLE , but it's in the way!!! be patient!!! OK

Thanks askwho69 I needed that!!!!!! whit a little help of my friends!!!!!! be patient please!!!!!
i have never had the above problem. i got mine for 75 on ebay. really its one great pedal . if u playin single coils into it , its not really metally. i love it . the top boost could be warmer but then again its a top boost. and its more overdrivey than muffy fuzz. never ever had a problem with it and is usually a main pedal on stage . my valvecaster luvs being driven by it . tho i wouldnt drive anything into the metal muff tho . if you want more of the slayer type sound i would suggest the mxr fullbore metal . now thats a pedal i would diy. its more true to the "metal" thing and the sweepable mid scoop sold me. i would suggest the top boost be more of a boost than have it kick the high end up to . i would be interested to c the final product and would love to c it more modded out than stock.

Hii!! what type of pots use the metal muff?? (lineal, log, antilog ???)
thanks a lot!!
Mr tasos are you there???
The first schemes have some errors; I´ve corrected here is:
If somebody have a interest to clone this pedal; I will post the layout based on this scheme and the PCB!!! any?????
Thanks to UBAID88 that make this real!!!!! thanks man!!!!!!!
Well this is my proposal of layout; please somebody take a look!!! if there some error plase let me note, I will correct it!!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hola, pienso que hablas español, como va el proyecto metal muff clone, me interesa, es posible haber el pcb & layout, encontre uno pero lei que es muy parecido al metal zone.
Gracias y hasta pronto.
Hi, I think you speak Spanish, as will the metal muff clone project, I'm interested, you may have the pcb & layout, but lei found one that is very similar to the metal zone.
Thanks and see you soon.

Sipies simil al METAL ZONE!! es casi el mismo solo que tiene mejoras en el MIDLE!! hay por ahi una mod de incluir un control de medios similar a l metal zone con un pote doble!!!!!
Yeah, there is very similar to METAL ZONE!!!!!!! some MIDLE control best; there is a mod for this is to do similar MIDLE controls like the metal zone a double pot!!!!!!!!
But with no BUFFER!! cauze it is true bypass!!!!!!!!!!!
SALUTIS DESDE PERÚ!!!!!!!
Ok Robert, a question? and got the pcb & layout .... and what you've started? actually two questions! I have wanted to do, listen to the original and I loved it ..... I follow you in several posts .... like I'm the Electric Mistress, with MN3207??? I'm hoping that I arrive to test integrated!! I hope later Banzai both ....
Thanks countryman ...
::)

HELLO ANGEL!!!!!!!!
Glad to meet you here!!!! I want to made it but in simil to the size of the antiques big pedals; cuz it be too big for now from 15cm to 12cm; but I have enclosures made by me in that size.
WHAT?? you don´t found in PARURO the MN3207?? I have some of this; i make some mistakes in the PCB of the THOMEEQUE´s proposal for the MISTRESS with the MN3207; I made the JORGE´s with the MN3007 It easy to do, but some dificult to calibrate the trimpots (there 3) without a guitar or amp; but it will be done.
wtf is this sh*t? can someone explain it to me?
Hello Roberto, also ok for my taste, I'm a DIYer, by passion and a little out of necessity. I have no knowledge in electronics, penalizing!!
I made several pedals and a transistor amplifier with pre or too distant to JCM800 type or fender black face, with j fet and end of 35 watts or so, to avoid disturbing the forum we can use a private mail and change some pictures or projects . I was born in Argentina, at this time I am in Italy.
See you soon.
Angel.
Hello,
I wish to build a metal muff (close to the original), i see many schematics posted/corrected, with wich one should i go ? (if any verified too ? )
Many thanks !
(Sorry for the revival but i'm really interrested to make one :) )
+1 for a schematic please. I can't view any of the Imageshack images.
Hello, please upload schematic, your previous links dont work. Thanks
