Title: 5 transistor Big Muff
Post by: soggybag on March 20, 2010, 01:14:20 AM
What would yo do with an extra transistor in a Big Muff? One extra NPN type.

what would one add?

I think Muffs sounds great with a booster in front. I recently put an LPB in front of one with some great results.

buffer before the tonestack

Speaking of a buffer before the tonestack, I had the idea I wanted to try placing the tonestack between the two clipping stages.

Whoops - thanks John

Isn't the Ibanez OD-850 a big muff with two more gain stages?

One more transistor could get a similar variation.

The OD850 is a BM with buffered in/out.
No extra gain...

Footswitchable boost at the output?

Input buffer?  I am under the impression the first stage of the BM is a boost, not a buff.
