Hi gang, I have a doubt:
I´m planning to buy an Artec power supply for the pedalboard. It has a 15V 1A switching mode walll wart that connects to a "distribution box" that has a few 100 mA 9V outs. The question is, can I parallel two of the outs to get 200 mA? The distribution box, I think, has inside some 78L09 regulators, few caps, and not much else...
What do you think?
It should work, but I don't have a lot of experience regarding switching supplies. I see no difference between running in parallel and powering 2 separate 9v/100mA circuits. If it gets warm, unplug it quickly, LOL.
I'd guess one would be slightly different, and do all the work until.
The event of transition [current draw makes the other side start working], might make some transition noise.
Or not...
Seems pretty easy to test or get 200ma going otherwise, opting for the latter of course will probably make it easier to get the behaviour you require, and keep your Regs intact, not that I know it'd be a prob, I'd wait until knowing it won't be a problem before connecting them.
Floating voltages ? I didn't quite catch how many secondary taps were involved.
Pete, in the wall wart? Only one wall wart, I assume only one secondary. But I don´t know anything about switching power supplies.
