Title: 2nd project suggestions
Post by: graylensman on May 17, 2010, 10:27:23 PM
HI - long time lurker, posting for the first time.

I'm about ready to take the plunge and build the beginner's booster project, but to save on shipping - and because I've got the $$ right now - I want to buy parts for a second project.

What would everyone recommend for a second stompbox project?

thanks in advance!

+1.

Definately.  Turn it up, point it at your amp in a drop-D tuning, and prepare for heads to roll.

Fuzz Face would be nice.

If you become addicted like I was after my first build I suggest buying the resistor and capacitor kits from smallbear. Its much better than buying what you need from project to project.

Fuzzes are easy and good for a second project- If you want to do one with a very good "parts count to result" ratio, I'd build a Parallel Universe Fuzz:

Really easy build, and it does some crazy awesome stuff

Thanks, guys, for the responses. I'm studying these schematics (and the NPN boost) to learn what all the symbols mean. I'm sure I'll be posting with questions as I go forward!

Another one you should check out is the Electra Distortion. Simple, and sounds great.

rousejeremy, I'm looking at the Electra schematic, and I don't see any indication of pots on this. Am I missing something?

There weren't any pots originally, but it's common to add a 100kA volume pot on the output. If you want, you can add more controls. Check these out:
