hi everybody. if i make my ruby amp with a 1/4" output for a speaker cab, how can i hook it up to a different speaker if i choose?
thanks.
tim
Hook a 1/4" cable between the ruby and the speaker of your choice.
I'm not following- are you asking how to have a speaker output as well as a built in speaker? How to run mulitple speakers?
i realize it probably seems like a pretty obvious question. i just don't have much experience. i want to have a 1/4" in and a 1/4" out, like a stomp box, which would allow me to hook up to a cab with a standard speaker cable. But i'd also like to be able to be able to pop the amp into a little box with a standard speaker when i'm traveling. most bare speakers don't come with 1/4" plugs, do they?
thanks,
tim
You would just wire a 1/4" female jack to whatever speaker you are wanting to use, and use a cable like to do to any other cab.
You can use a regular guitar cable, by the way, because the wattage is so low.
Am I getting what you are saying? Are you building a cab for the small speaker?
thanks, top top. that makes sense. yes, i'll be making some sort of enclosure for a smaller speaker (lunchbox, soup can, etc. i don't know yet.) my ideal is to have the stompbox style amp that will just fit into it somewhere to power the small speaker, or can be taken out to run to a cab. thanks for the advice.
tim
Yeah basically just put a 1/4" output on it and you can use it with any cab, and also directly into an amps input.
i think he means a 1/8" jack...
they've got adaptors for that if that's the case... look for a 1/4" female to 1/8" male and use it on a guitar cable. or get a cable that has one 1/4" end and a 1/8" end
edit: nvm... im tired today
no, i meant 1/4". what i was imagining was a 1/4" male to spade cable (which would work, i think). then i could just have that hooked to the small speaker in the enclosure, and when i wanted to use it i could just plug that into the ruby.
