Title: Transistor to use to replace MPSA18?
Post by: MonsterBass101 on December 20, 2010, 12:56:19 PM
I'm looking to build a Sparkle drive which calls for a MPSA18 Transistor, but I have none.  Is there a common replacement for this part?

BC550 is one.

There are others but... none that I would call COMMON.

Good Luck  ;D

A 2N3904 will work fine, probably the commonest transistor there is. In that circuit I don't think there's any particular reason why it needs to be an MPSA18.

Also a 2N5089 would work.  Here is a good place to start for substitutions:  http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/DRAGONFLY-LAYOUTS_0/The-Mod-Zone-_/TRANSISTOR_SUBSTITUTION_CHART.gif.html
