Title: Diodes: 1N4148 vs T4148
Post by: Steve Mavronis on March 12, 2011, 09:02:25 PM
What's the spec difference between a 1N4148 and a T4148 diode? I'm building myself a spare overdrive pedal and just noticed what I have in my parts bin is a T4148. I imagine it's basically the same thing but wondering if there is any advantage or disavange vs the 1N4148 that I thought was being used in my prior year old build.

The advantage is that you have some diodes with essentially the same product code. The disadvantage is that it's made you worry!

DOD staff didn't sit there in the 70s measuring the Vf of every diode - if they'd received a delivery of what you've got then they'd have just got on with making pedals.

I'm thinking it is just a branding thing. It just made me curious when I noticed it. I'm pretty sure it's the same specs.
