Title: One Bad Capple
Post by: petemoore on April 02, 2011, 06:31:15 AM
Hafta say the FTM is heavy-tone Octa-Fuzz !
One bad cap can make for mighty strange behaviour.
It'll drive you to be bored, tear out half your board, dig your guts out, re-score the already re-scored, takin' more measurements, then nearly cutting through the board.
After going through the paces, digging out your traces
A rising resistance, may be detected with persistance.
DC across a cap'll make the Tone Machine a...what rhymes with cap and is POS ?
@@ Rate: my nice clean, Tone Machine build ain't so neat, but sure does work!
Hardly ever happens of course...a bad capple that is.
That said [I went through amazing dig-out/debugs and rebuilds on This board..whew !]...''hotpin to the spider-boil'' type of board debug/digout, Q3 completely ripped out, Q3 'periphery' was nearly gone by the time that cap was the only thing left...lol.
