Title: Digitech whammy 4 problem - wont turn on

Hi guys
i got this problem with my whammy, one day it just stopped working, most of the time when i plug the power nothing happens, only bypass
and sometimes when i plug it all the leds or some lit, but no sound

i bought a new power supply but its still the same

what could be wrong?

The "most of the time/some of the time" thing sounds like a bad connection... if it were "all of the time" I'd guess components blew up, but LEDs lighting could be a good sign :)

Have you opened it up yet? Hopefully it's something trivial!

Edit: Oh, and did you do a true bypass mod to it? Or does the original bypass work?

One place to look is to test the voltages coming out of the regulators. You might be able to cull some information from this thread (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=82383.0).
