Title: +9V 0 -9V from one battery.
Post by: served on January 05, 2012, 09:43:14 AM
Hi.

There must be a solution to use only one battery to power schematic which requires 9V-0-9V power.
I am currently building the LHX Cab Sim. And I would like to power it from one battery or 9V power supply. Is there a way to do it?

Thanks!

The solution to this one, like many others is to read http://www.geofex.com.

For this one question, the answer is in http://geofex.com/circuits/+9_to_-9.htm (http://geofex.com/circuits/+9_to_-9.htm). Note that since I wrote that, I've found that the MAX1044 is marginal because of its 10.000000V maximum input voltage. The other chips listed and the TC1044 have bigger input voltage maximums.

Well, I'm not familiar with the schematic of that particular amp sim (perhaps you could post a link), but it may well be possible to adapt the schematic to run on a single supply. If you absolutely have to create a split battery powered supply then the simplest, lowest parts count, least electrically noisy option would be to use two 9V batteries.
