I'm trying to figure out why the infamous Boss DS-1 is the only pedal i've had problems with that changes it's tonal character when used with a wah.I've tried Keeley,Analogman,my own mods, and stock, and always have had the same problem. When paired with a crybaby,or any other wah,It gets this gnarly, almost busted speaker sound.(I'm sure many on here have had the same problem.)I can always tell when someone like one of my guitar heroes,Joe Satriani kicked on his DS-1 with a wah,the tone changed.I'm guessing it's the BMP tonestack responsible for this.Is there some kind of solution to this problem?I know I'm trying to polish a turd here, but there's got to be a way... :icon_idea:

Is the wah before or after the distortion? The wah's resonant peak might accentuate a particularly nasty frequency characteristic of the ds1. Wah before would have a rather high peak that could cause some hard clipping in one of the opamps and, depending on its overload characteristics, it might be sticking to the rails a bit. That would sound nasty.

With the wah afterwards it would still accentuate some nasty frequency the ds1 makes. It wouldn't modify the clipping characteristics though.

Does it do this on every note? Have you tried bypassing the tone stack to see if that makes a difference? I would also suggest changing the order if you haven't already.

I've tried it with the wah both ways and it still sounds the same on every note. How would i bypass the tone stack?  :icon_redface: I'd like to use a "marshall" type tonestack,I'm just not sure how that would be implemented?Thank you for your response.

The tone section in the ds1, if I could hazard a guess, is between the diodes near the end and the tone knob on the schematic. Wire up a switch to bypass it or just short around it. You might try bypassing the diodes too, see how that sounds.
