Hi,

I'm new to pedal building and I have some diodes that I'm trying to identify. One looks like a germanium. Is there any kind of chart that decodes the markings? There are three rows:

F4
00
4

Thanks for any help.

Kesh

there are diodes called SF4004 and VF4004

Kesh,  Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. Its starting to make some sense now. What I have are F4004, 1N4004ITT, ?4448, N1N4743A, and some tiny diodes with a green band for polarity and a green H. I can look up the numbers. Hopefully I can use them for something.

I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

Breadboard a Distortion + circuit and try out different combinations of those diodes. Take notes, see what you like best.

Also, if you have a DMM take the forward voltages.

Thanks guys!

Larry,Not like that. Its clear glass with copper innards and green labelling.  The sides are not round. I'm using my smart phone and its a pain.

Mesh, and Tornado,  good ideas. When I get home tomorrow I'll see if I can capture some voltages work on a test rig.

I'm somewhat new to these diodes. Most of my music electronic build experience is tube amps and a couple guitars.

Thanks again
and I'll post an update later on.
