does lpb 1 + transformer with germ diodes=octave up?

Can you just tack a 3:1 transformer with germanium diodes after a clean boost and get an octave up? I recently built an octavia clone and I find that I only use it with the fuzz at minimum running into my other dirt boxes. Can I just do the transformer thing after an lpb-1 and get the same effect?

If you just want the octave up why not try a Dan Armstrong green ringer?

you are better off using a step UP transformer, to reduce the 'gating' effect of the diodes.
Try about a 1:10 ratio (e.g. 1k to 10k).
