I'm working out another Ibanez circuit and this one uses three 2SC2458BL trannies. What would be a workable replacement for this (now obsolete) part?

I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

You can always stick in a generic NPN and see if it works - most of the time it does, if not, then try and figure out what the special deal is with these trannies in this spot.

Thanks - I did a little more digging and it seems that the 2SC2458 was used on the DS-1, and someone recommended using a BC549 or BC550 as a replacement if you modify the pinout. I'll give that a shot.

It seems that the 2SC2458 was the transistor of choice for Ibanez around that time. Lokking at the circuit, I don't see anything special about the use of the trannies.

Anything "close" will work. I keep 2SC1518GR's on hand for most Ibanez circuits calling for a NPN. You can still find those for sale at numerous places.

Well, this is a no-go.
I was going to use an MN3010 in place of the uber-rare MN3210, but the clock frequency is not the same; the MN3210 is twice of the MN3010's is.
The irritating thing is, they have the exact same pinout and function. Oh well.
