Consider for starters different effects routing opened and closed by electronic switches which are fed by the "rising out voltage" and "falling out voltage". So that when an upward sweep is detected one effects route is selected, and when a downward sweep is detected a different effects route is selected.

Obviously this would only be of use on a very slow sweep, but just think of the possibilities!

Just think, you could have different fuzzes switched in and out during the upward and downward sweeps of your phaser or flanger!

Yeah some pretty cool possibilities, you could do some interesting things with slow envelopes or AD generators.

I'd use it to activate a strobe light when the flanger crosses zero.
