Regarding BD139/10 and BD139/16

I got a couple of these BD139 in T0-10 and T0-16 packaging.  The 10s have an hfe 75 and the 16s have an hfe 124.  Can these transistors be used for  a fuzz?  What other silicon transitors that avg less than 100 hfe for Q1 on a fuzz face?

there are people on this forum advocating lowish gain medium-power transistors like the bd series in fuzzface or tonebender type circuits. you'd have to search for them though.
