What do you want?
- a solid-state amp /  tube amp?
- low power (5watts) - enough power (15 watts - 30 watts) - more than enough power (50 watts) - too much power (100 Watts)?

Solid state: You can take a preamp from  http://www.runoffgroove.com/articles.html  and put a poweramp after http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_lm3886_amp.pdf.
Tubes: you can build kits from weber or http://ceriatone.com/ or puzzle your own parts together.

Buying second-hand is in most cases cheaper than building:
For tube amps: you could buy a second-hand Epiphone Valve Junior and start experimenting.

But if you like to build, go build!

50W.. solid state

is that enough for a bedroom player?

5 watts is probably already too much for a bedroom player...

But there is a nice SS amp project called the Tiny Giant.
It's 20 watts and uses a laptop power supply so you dont' have to work with mains voltages yourself.

Build some nice FET preamps from runoffgroove to go in front et voila!

btw how loud is 20W?? any sound clips from tiny giant amp?

Using your speakers, 20watts would be enough to play on rehearsals, on bars and a little loud if your'e playing on a church.  I suggest you build a ruby amp from runoffgroove. Its very suitable for your kind of music plus it has a gain control to help you with heavier genres. Very good for bedroom players and very easy to build..

is this the layout for pcb?

i'll just turn it to black and white and mirror it right??

cant do it..

please give it to me..

azrael

No, it's a double sided layout. Just buy it, it's very cheap, and it's a great project. Support the guy who developed it.

Rock_on

dont have the money for shipping. and i dont have credit/debit cards

jogina111

There's a PDF file which you can download at taylor's site and it contains the schematic for the tiny giant. You can try building it based on that schematic.

Rock_on

Thank you for that!! :DD

btw i thought it has 2 channels according to the taulor's poll? But what happen??

jogina111

Its a single channel amp for simplicity's sake.. If you want 2 channels, you would want 2 power amp sections for left and right channels.

No i mean clean and dirty???

azrael

It's a simple simple SIMPLE amp. If you want distortion, go build a distortion pedal.
It's meant to be a clean transparent amp, not necessarily a guitar amp.
