I've been using this tester to sort out a bunch of Ge transistors and its great, really helps sorting out actual gain from leakage.  Thanks to Arcane Analog for helping to clarify on how to use this great tester and some great tips.  I figure, instead of using a breadboard to sort out 150+ germanium transistors that I just got from eBay, OC125s, it would be best to make a jig and use my breadboard for better use, like testing out more tone bender circuits :)  So here is a quick layout that I did.  Hope it would help others to make this great Ge PNP tester.  Please visit www.geofex.com for more info.

I followed R.G. Keen's schematic to do the layout.  I made a few changes, used a 5k trimmer to dial 2.472K more easily and accurately instead of sorting out to try to find a 2.4K resistor that is or close to 2.472K.  I also used a a 5k linear pot to dial in 9.00v.....  These changes would greatly help give you a more accurate reading...  thanks Arcane Analog for these added tips, and thanks R.G. Keen for your valuable contribution to the DiY community.

I forgot to mention, for the DVM leads, red and black, I went with using alligator clips.  Options are all up to you.  I also intended to make this as small as possible so you can use a small enclosure, Im putting this in an altoid tin box.  :)
