Line 6 Double Preset mod question....sound dropping out

So i've performed the double preset mod on a Line 6 DM4. I know it's a bit lame to play though one, but i got it cheap and decided to give it a shot. normally the lag time changing from preset 1 to 2 or 3 etc... results is very little drop in sound as the preset is changing. i was actually surprised at how quick the change over was. after performing the double preset mod, however, the drop in sound from normal preset 1 to 2 etc... is very drastic.

the expression switch mod works fine. I linked the Ring and Sleeve of the expression jack together, and placed a 10k resistor between the Tip and Sleeve. Then I wired the Tip and Sleeve to a DpDt switch with a blue 3mm LED. I used the battery connect for the power to the LED.

any ideas why changing presets would cause such a drop in sound?
