I recently built a fuzz pedal and I'm having quite a bit of difficulty getting the signal to cooperate. Basically in bypass mode, i have to turn my amp volume up to a level that is way higher than normal to hear it and then when i activate the fuzz the volume is back at normal so it is crazy loud. But other times it will play in bypass just fine, volume is normal and everything and when i activate the fuzz it acts normal until i turn it off then it goes back to being really quiet again unless i crank the volume...

Does this make sense to anyone or could you take a guess as to what direction i need to start looking in to fix it?

Thanks!

an intermittent connection suggests an inconsistent solder joint / loose connection...or possibly a bad switch or loose (doesn't make good connection in the in/out jack) cable.

but you need to give more details for anyone to really help

when the signal is low, can you jiggle anything (in or out of the box) to get it back to normal?
always think outside the box

Ok so basically the signal doesn't cut out while im playing.. it in fact doesn't cut out at all, it just goes from being a normal volume to being quieter after i turn on and then turn off the fuzz pedal. Here is a video of what i mean, i tried to record it best i can. In the beginning of the video, the volume on my amp is set on the first notch, id say about 7 o'clock and after i disengage the fuzz i have to turn it all the way up to about 1 o'clock to even hear my bypass signal coming through the amp.
