Circuit Salad Optofet debug

Hi guys

Here the checklist
1.What does it do, not do, and sound like? i get a signal if i disconect the earth.
I doesnt compress. no sound when everythings connected as should be (off board wires)

2.Name of the circuit = circuit salad optofet compressor

3.Source of the circuit (URL of schematic or project) =

Oh um ....

It looks like my transistor is backwards in the layout. I originally did it with a BS170 (before Ray switched it to a Darlington), which has a backwards pinout. Sorry about that! I'll fix the layout as soon as I get a chance. EDIT: Layout corrected.

If that doesn't fix it:

1) Does it work when you pull the optofet?

2) Does it work with the Optofet in but when you pull the op amp?

3) What op amp are you using? Looks like a 358, but it's a little blurry.

OK Jon i'll try that it is indeed an LM358p and the transistor is an mpsa14

Thats what it was. thanks Jon.
It has loads of squish and headroom.
Great compressor sounds good on my bass too.
Any mods i could do. I already think i might do the led compressiion idnicator.
I'm going to go back over the earlier article to seee how its done and see if theres a mod for Attack settings.
