I built an ABY pedal...

I used this and followed it to a t...

But the light(s) stay on when there is no cable in the stereo jack. What did I do wrong and how do I correct it?

debugging is frustrating eh?
i would assume you checked for solder bridges?
is the purple triangle in your diagram the jack tip?
i've never built a splitter but when i wire my stereo input jack i connect the ring directly to the (-)ve post of the battery. it would take me a minute to figure out how to do this in your case but does that give you enough to go with?

Musician78

Everything seems good.  Purple wire is attached to the tip.   It is frustrating.

What if I added another ground from the ring to the negative battery terminal?

You'd be doing exactly what Kingsway was suggesting.
I would suggest you link your sleeve connections to the middle-right pin of the left switch (where the negative battery is connected on your layout), disconnect the battery (-) from that pin and connect it to the ring of the input.

Keep us posted !

Actually yes.  I misread it this morning.  Thanks, I will try that and let you know.   :)

hang in there. even though i've never built one, i suspect your struggle is just a simple wiring issue. i suspect the led stays on due to reverse leakage, combined with my previous post. i was going to try to redraw something for you but haven't found the time. hang in there and let us know how it goes.

mark hammer says it's the easiest thing to built but there are always gremlins  ;)

GENIUS'!!!!!    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!   I knew it had to do something like that but didn't alter or deviate from the drawing.   Again, thank you so much!   :)

How could I add a dc jack to this?   Everything I see indicates negative to ring of input and battery clip, positive to battery clip.  And another positive to V+.   Where is V+ on this?

V+ is the positive leg of the power supply. So I guess you could say that V+ is the + connection on the DC jack (and the red wire on the battery snap).

Musician78

So I would only use two connections?   There wouldn't be a point in splicing the positive of the battery clip to put positive on both lugs...?  I know I must be missing something....
