Ok so today i made my head hurt. I've got an SD-1. I like the pedal pretty well as it is but... I've seen a bunch of mods for it in various places on the interwebs. Rather than mod my pedal, I came up with this brilliant plan to build one using IVIark's layout off his blog, and modding that one.http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2013/01/boss-sd1-super-distortion.html

The mods I happen to like best after hours of YouTube auditioning and all are Brian Wampler's. Especially the "Cuervo" and the "Blues" mod. So, using a schematic rather like this one

I've spent most of my day building the thing and figuring out which components are which in regards to the layout vs. the schematic I THINK I have the capacitors I need to mod spotted. But the diodes are a different story. I dunno which is D4, D5, or D6, per the schematic on IVIark's layout. Next, what I want to do is have a switch. DPDT and have "Cuervo" diodes on one side, stock in the middle, and "Blues" mod diodes on the third position. Since this thing is already asymettrical clipping.. I dunno exactly how to lay out my daughter board to do that. I'm sure I'm missing the forest for the trees here but I'm tired and... umm.. help please??

Doesn't the circuit board of your SD-1 have each component clearly identified? Wampler's book "How To Modify Effects Pedals" (this is a great book, but be careful, it got me hooked on modifying pedals, and now I am building them)  has pics of the SD-1 board clearly identifying each component in the mods. I've done some of those mods on the SD-1. The tube screamer on steroids mod is a good alternative to buying a real one. If you can't find it let me know and I'll post the two pics unless someone says I shouldn't.

Does anyone know the policy regarding posting of pages from the  book? I think its been dicussed before and it's okay. Someone please confirm?

Oh yeah, Brian's book clearly shows the components etc. IVIark's layout has different numbers. I think I've got it figured out though. I needed to sleep and all. Things make more sense now. My biggest problem was tracing the circuit on the vero layout and then finding that piece on the actual schematic. Its been a good learning experience. I'll post what I figured out soon. Another damn tornado here tonight. I think (hope) its passed.

I think ....

Hobby World  layout  D5 - D6   =   D2 - D3  on Ivarks layout .
