hot harmonics on gausmarkovs site

Hiya,
I've used GMs layout on his site to have a go at PCB design / production.
The layots are different as I went double sided but the nets all seem correct to me.

Anyway it arrived and I've built it. I get distortion, not as much as the sound clip though, the octave knob doesn't do much and there's a volume drop when engaged.

Apart from the fact I've made a mistake with the pcb,(don't think I have but wouldn't mind someone double checking)
Anyone got any ideas what might be wrong?

It'd be pretty easy to flip a transistor by mistake... I'd check that first, then really stare it down for solder bridges.

Hi, no bridges as its on PCB and all nicely spread out but ta for suggesting.

erm, is there a picture on this thread I can't see? if you show your pcb, and a circuit diagram, we might spot summink.
