I do like my modded bor (the real one lives in the guitar case as a backup).
I changed the 470p/470k to 120p/220k, added a gain switch on the second stage, and used a different
amz tone stack as well as a 10k pot for the main gain. I can get a nice sparkle through decent rock tone.
I'm using different coupling caps to tame the bottom. It's a little more "Diezely".
I like it a lot at 12v But I need a little more gain. I play rhythm NOT lead by the way.

What would happen if I built another one this way?
Change source resistors to 10k, and added a 4th stage?
Possibly up the 1 meg biasing resistors to 2m since I like 12-15v.
I'd use trimmers on the source untill i get it where i want it.

Going for a cross between Marshal, diezel and engl savage.
Slightly dark, articulate, from purr to a smooth roar.
This is for the third channel of my personal preamp.
The engl mod3 and riot are on the 4th channel.

I just simply built a stock (minus tone circuit) bor with an added stage
and 1k trimmers on the last 3 stages.
I'm going for slightly higher gain to make legato notes easier to play.

NEW question

I want to switch out one gain stage on each 4 stage preamp.
Whats the best stage to switch out? I:E: two tones.
Stage 2, leaving stage 1 3 4 as stock Bor or engl, or stage 4.
Seems some amps switch in stage 2 like the savage.

Box of Rock?

Quote from: ZvexIt is very similar to the SHO boost circuit, with refinements to make it sound more like a standard amp input and less glassy.

Ohm's Law - much like Coles Law, but with less cabbage...
