Connect LED power after protection diode?

I'm using a 1N5817 in series as a protection diode in a build. It would make my layout simpler if I could connect the LED current limiting resistor after the diode instead of straight to the 9v supply. Is there any reason not to do this? (Besides losing the .33 volts, which I think I can spare...)

BTW, this is for midwayfair's Clipper Ship. There is good power filtration on the rail.

It's fine.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
