Anyone might be able to help with troubleshooting?

I had a custom overdrive built by a friend who builds pedals etc. It's an incredible OD but I've sent it back to him a few times for some issues and somehow they can't be resolved. I thought maybe one of you DIYers might be able to help.

Issues: When I click the effect on it takes a few seconds to do anything,  as in no sound at all then it will happen suddenly. Also once it's working it'll cut out randomly. Also, when I toggle through the clipping options and bass options it will do the same--click on the effect and no sound.

Any ideas? Anyone think they can fix it? Thanks!

Hey there,
some basics like what the pedal is? Is it vero or PCB? Is it a custom design? Can you get hold of a schematic?

It sounds like a capacitor issue i read about in the Echo Base thread, but if you can answer any of those questions and/or supply photos of thr innards that may help.
