Need basic help reading a schematic

Last week I made a super, super simple distortion circuit that I found on instrucables.com and all went flawlessly, so I decided to try something a little more difficult. So I'm making a JHS Morning Glory, using this schematic: http://music.codydeschenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/JHS-Morning-Glory-Schematic.png

I have a good, albeit basic, understanding of circuits and their components, but two parts of this schematic baffle me. 1. In the power section right after the LED theres a circle with an X through it that says SW. I have no idea what this is. 2. In the power section there's a broken line in the wire with an 8 and a 4 by each end of the wire, the 4 going to ground. I have no idea what this means.

Those are my main two questions, but I have a few other quick ones.

The circles with +'s that say +9v connect to the power jack, and the circles with +'s that say VB connect to each other, right?

There's only one IC chip here, right? It's just represented in two different sections? And if a pin, in this case 4, isn't assigned anywhere it just stays open right? Not grounded?

Would it be difficult to wire this for true bypass?

Thanks for any help  ;D

JROD..  (as an alien in area 51 you should know this.. ;))

the SW means switch ( footswitch.)

the 4-8  is the positive and ground of the IC.  8+  4-

there is only 1 chip, but it is a 'dual' opamp... 2 in 1.

wire up as TB as always..no problem.

So this schematic doesn't show the true bypass wiring, but that's what this indicates? If I don't do true bypass, does this connect to the switch that just has a 1 and a 2?

Thanks for the reply! :)

The 'SW' in the top left corner just shows that the LED is connected to the footswitch---when the footswitch is on, the LED is grounded and turns on. There are many ways to wire a 3PDT switch for true bypass, but for example, in this one: http://beavisaudio.com/techpages/StompboxWiring/ the - side of the LED is connected to the bottom left footswitch lug. That's what the 'SW' on your schematic means.

The switch that has a 1 and a 2 in your schematic is the Morning Glory's bright cut switch. It should be a SPST switch.... or you can use a SPDT switch and only wire two lugs.

Ohh okay that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me :)
