the 76 reads with collector properly being at the red dot on the side, and Ebc. The 77 reads the opposite on my meter, but any references to the T-01 pkg state that the dot is where collector is. Can someone verify for me the dot on 77 is collector?

The dot is definitely the collector.  If you're trying to use an atlas DCA55 to measure it, It can get confused with germanium transistors if the gain is high or leakage lower than expected.
Mine does. :)

Thanks. I use http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/OTQCAup3Ick/hqdefault.jpg

The resistance between collector (dot) and base is smaller than the resistance between emitter and base. That's another reason it seemed reversed, and might be what confuses the meter.
