does anyone have an original fender phaser?

This one I'm actually really looking forward to - its one of those pedals that I associate with Pure Undiluted Win and is an achievable build for those without the chops for the mega-projects.

Keeping ergonomics in mind there Jim? Squinting with your eyes and not with your back?  :icon_wink:

Jimi got it going! One more oldie resurrected! No....I didn't mean Jimi!  ;D

Here's the schematic as relayed to me in pictures and description.

I'll follow up with a component overlay and PCB art.
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

WHOOO HOOOO!!!! it lives!!

looks like it would even be vero friendly and sounds great. i'll up a video once everybody wakes up.

thanks for the work larry, looks good!!

i will check the suspect resistor too and see what's what.

back in a bit! ;)

hey larry, is this the final schematic?

i tried the regen mod, sounds great, but seems to pick up a LOT more lfo noise at stage volumes... i put this at the end of my rig just before the talkbox cuz it's so noisey..
pretty quiet without the 22k resistor, i love the sound with it tho...

any way to quiet it down? maybe add a couple caps to ground somewhere?

Just saw your post Jimi,

Try increasing R15 to 24K-33K.

The 22K I included is straight out of the Phase 90.

When you add feedback....you're going to increase any noise that might be inherent in the design. It's the trade off...deeper sounding phase or quiet phaser.

Since the Fender shares a dual op amp for the LFO and the input stage, I would imagine that it would be noiser then the Phase 90 that uses separate op amps.

You might try sticking a .1uf to ???? whatever size works between power pin 8 and ground pin 4 of the LM1458.

It's worth a try!

in for a dollar, in for a dime, larry, i'll give it a shot!!
thanks bro!

Hi All
I just got a duff one of these on Fleabay-4136 is dead
Do you thinkan opamp with same pinouts can be used? TL074,etc? Got boxes of them!

Cheers

If you are referring to the RC4136 quad op amp.......No.

The pinout for the power pins of most modern quad op amps including the TL074 is 11 & 4.
The 4136 is 11 & 7

You can get the 4136 here:

Thanks pinkjimiphoton you are great, perhaps I be clonning this, thanks to you!!!!!!!!!!!! RC4136, is not at my land, I will replace it with TL074 or LM324, I know there no compatibility, chamge the pins in my personal layout, see you soom!!!

I don't mean to take your enthusiasm away but.....when I was working with Jimi tracing this thing....it turned out that this circuit is just a Phase 90!

The only real difference is that fender added a foot control to able to change the rate of the phasing on the fly.
Other than that....build a phase 90.  :icon_wink:

Also...the phase 90 uses separate op amps for the LFO and signal. If you take a look at the Fender schematic you'll see a 1458 for the input and the LFO.

but it's a cool phase 90 in a way huge box!!!

i'm toying with the idea of selling mine... but then i keep putting it back in the pedal bin. ;)

it's a nice sounding pedal, ever so slightly different sounding than the p90.. probably cuzza the resonance mod. ;)

thanks godsavemetal for the kind words, but i'm nobody special, just a hack. ;)

if it wasn't for larry, i'd still be scratching the old bag wondering what to do. ;)
