I remember my mother scolding me about the state of my bedroom carpet.
Ferric Chloride stains look disgusting.

I'm so glad that we have inexpensive Chinese fabrication available these days

I used to make boards at home using the tapes and pad dots supplied with the kits that tandy used to sell back in the late '70's. Quite effective.   I've also used bituminous paint,  Dalo pen & texta (sharpie) as etch resist back then.
