Sorry for the necropost.  This thread was just referenced in another thread and my question really belongs here.

Has anyone tried the Harbor Freight powder coating system for $60?

Ahh that Harbour freight powder coating gun is the same as the one I bought in the UK 3 years ago except it cost £179 here, there marketed as electrostaticmagic in the UK but have now been replaced by a new model. There are pictures in one of my threads here about it. It works great but after 3 years is about ready for replacement.

Thanks for letting us know about it, Mick. At $60US and infrequent use, it sounds like a good deal. If someone were powder coating a large quantity of boxes over a long period of time, it probably wouldn't be a good investment.

What component(s) seem to be going out on yours?

The part that the cup screws onto is just epoxy glued to the main gun plastic barrel with a little self tapping screw in the top, this has broken allowing a lot of air leakage. I have fixed it by breaking off the plastic screw cap and replacing it with another one which I have glued and screwed back on. The plastic that the gun barrel and cup top are made from seem to be nylon so the epoxy doesn't get a great hold to it.

I have used the kit a lot over the years I have had it, so for a hobby bit of gear it has done more than it was designed for to be honest.

Thanks for the tip. I'll save this in case I decide to buy one.
